If you’re heading to the beach for the day, stop by on your way to pick up a pre-made sandwich from Swiss Bakers and some fresh pressed juice. Don’t forget to get your fresh chicken from Grant Family Farm!

Looking for Volunteers!

2016VolunteersNeeded
The crocuses are starting to bloom and the smell of spring is in the air! The Farmer’s Market team is starting to gear up for the 2016 market season.  We’re looking to add more community volunteers to the committee this year if you’re interested in getting involved and helping us run and continue to grow this vibrant market. You can be involved as much or as little as you’d like, we are always happy to add new members to the planning committee but we’re also looking for volunteers to work a few markets throughout the summer. It’s a great way to get involved and give back to the community!

Our first meeting will be March 28th, please send us a quick note if you’re interested and we’ll send you more information on the time & location.

Pumpkin Decorating this Weekend!

SFM_PumpkinDecoratingEventFlyer

It looks like it’s going to be a cold one this weekend but that shouldn’t stop us New Englanders! Let’s get out there and take advantage of the fantastic items the farmers have this time of year. Warm up with some hot coffee & an apple cider donut and then pick up some squash to roast up for dinner and fresh fish or meat.

This weekend we’ll be doing pumpkin decorating with the kids as part of our October Halloweenfest celebration. We will be supplying all of the materials although you are welcome to bring your own pumpkin to decorate as well.

We’ll see you there! Sunday 10-1!

2nd Annual Indoor Thanksgiving Market!

SFM_ThanksgivingEventFlyer14

Our Thanksgiving market was such a huge hit last year, we decided to bring it back and make it bigger and better than ever!  If you didn’t get a chance to join us last year, now is the time to take part and stock up on local turkeys, vegetables and baked goods to make your Thanksgiving table stand out.  As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve invited a number of talented local crafters to come so you can get your holiday shopping started early.  As we’re experiencing already, November isn’t known for having the nicest weather forecast so it will be taking place in the warm & dry Swampscott High School Atrium.  See below for more information on how you can reserve your turkey and baked goods for pick-up at the market.

WHEN:  Sunday November 23rd, 2014  10am – 1pm

WHERE:  Swampscott High School Atrium (inside main entrance)

RoastedVeggies2

Our farmers will be bringing a number of hearty fall vegetables and meat, last year I picked up a few beautiful delicata squash and roasted them up with bacon, brussel sprouts and topped it with a maple glaze. Get creative and add something different to the roundup this year, what better way to do that than with some fresh local produce?  Talk to the farmer’s and vendors, if you are unsure of how to cook something, most likely they’ll have a variety of suggestions on how to best serve it up.  David from Salem Spice is another great resource, show him the vegetables or meat that you picked up and he’ll tell you what seasonings or spices will complement it best.

Our food vendors joining us this year will be:

Piper Ranch Beef

Long Hill Orchard

Clark Farm

Grant Family Farm

Salem Spice

Alfalfa Farm Winery

Eventide Confections

The Cannoli Corner

Witch City Salsa

Deano’s Pasta

Melissa’s Honey Pot will be bringing several different flavors and varieties of local honey, honey sticks, locally made syrup, maple candy and maple sugar!

The Soup Guy will have a special Cranberry Squash soup for the Thanksgiving market.
