It was great to see all of the kids at the market last weekend decorating their pumpkins. This week we’ll be doing another Halloween-themed craft making Tootsie Roll Pop Spiders!

Due to the rain last weekend, we decided to reschedule our Pumpkin Decorating craft event to this weekend. We will have free pumpkins available to the first 40 kids. Feel free to bring your own pumpkins to decorate as well!
The weather is looking to be gorgeous on Sunday, we’ll have some live music as well as a vibrant array of produce & goods from our vendors. Grant Family Farm will have fresh chicken available this weekend so be sure to stop by & pick up something fresh for dinner.

In case you didn’t know, August 1st was only the mid-point of summer, so although stores are stocking up on back-to-school gear and September is around the corner, we still have so much of the summer left! Take advantage of it while it lasts and stop by the market this weekend to pick up some of these amazing tomatoes from Clark Farm, fresh eggs from Grant Family Farm or some dry aged steak from River Rock. In addition to their normal assortment, this weekend Long Hill Orchard will have cubanelle and bell peppers, 3 varieties of eggplant, summer onions and romano beans.

We have another gorgeous day in store for the market this weekend! Now is the time to get out there and take advantage of all the wonderful summer produce that our local farmers have to offer. The joy of summer cooking is the simplicity of the menu, let the ingredients speak for themselves! How about a fresh corn salad with sweet cherry tomatoes and basil? Or a nice piece of fish from golden cod alongside some grilled summer squash. All reasons to come by the market and stock up for a week of healthy & delicious eats! If you’re heading to the beach for the day, stop by on your way to pick up a pre-made sandwich from Swiss Bakers and some fresh pressed juice. Make sure you place your orders for Grant Farm’s whole and half pasture raised chickens. Place your order online here and pick up at the market on Sunday. The chickens are fresh, raised in small groups and only fed a certified organic ration, never any antibiotics, hormones or GMO feed.
Clark Farm will have a limited quantity of their own outdoor grown artisan cherry & heirloom tomatoes. Specials this week include Kohlrabi (99 cents each) and Yellow Summer Squash (79 cents a pound).
Bambolina had such success last week that they’ve agreed to come back this weekend to fire up more pizzas for everyone. If you missed it, make sure you stop by and try one of their made-to-order neapolitan style pizzas made in their mobile wood-fired oven.
Whole Foods Swampscott will also be joining us this weekend for a cooking demo. Stop by their booth to sample some delicious seasonal food and pick up a new recipe idea while you’re at it!

Mia’s House of Sweets will be bringing large bags of Oatmeal Scotchies & Chocolate Chip cookies which would be a great homemade addition to any Fourth of July party or BBQ.
Stock up on frozen soups from The Soup Guy so you don’t have to cook during the fun days of the long weekend. They will be offering their soups and award-winning Bootleg Chili packaged in quarts and half gallons for large parties. They are packaged in re-heatable sealed bags which can go directly into boiling water, making prep work a breeze. The chili is a great addition to burgers & hot dogs or try heating up with some cheese for a spicy queso dip! Their products are all vegan and gluten free so everyone at the table can enjoy.
Arrowhead Farm will have their first raspberries of the year. For folks looking for something to grill they will have pork loin chops, rib racks and sea salt & sage sausages. You should also try their special Heirloom Tomato Jam for basting meats or enjoying on hot dogs & burgers.
For the kid’s craft we’ll have pipe cleaners & beads so they can make their own rings.
