The Market This Weekend! 7-17-16

It looks like we will have a nice day for the market this weekend! Here are some highlights from our vendors:

Arrowhead Farm will have their first peaches of the season and their no-spray, organic sugar peach jam. They will also have a nice thick-cut Yorkshire Heritage Breed Ham steaks for the grill as well as bacon and sausages.

Grant Family Farm will have their chicken, all types of parts available: breast, thighs, drums, wings, liver, heart, bones for broth & whole birds.

Swiss Baker will have burger buns. The same great pretzel roll flavor but large enough for backyard burgers! Six for $6.

The Soup Guy will be featuring a summer chilled Gazpacho soup, made fresh three times a week. Stop by for a sample!

Long Hill Orchards will have butter and sugar corn, summer squash, zucchini, herbs, beans and more.

Steven Glick will be our musician this week.

July 3rd at the Farmer’s Market!

Everyone is gearing up for a big Holiday weekend, don’t forget that the market is still open and our vendors are bringing special items that will be great for the parties you’ll be attending or hosting! See below for some highlights.

Mia’s House of Sweets will be bringing large bags of Oatmeal Scotchies & Chocolate Chip cookies which would be a great homemade addition to any Fourth of July party or BBQ.

Stock up on frozen soups from The Soup Guy so you don’t have to cook during the fun days of the long weekend. They will be offering their soups and award-winning Bootleg Chili packaged in quarts and half gallons for large parties. They are packaged in re-heatable sealed bags which can go directly into boiling water, making prep work a breeze. The chili is a great addition to burgers & hot dogs or try heating up with some cheese for a spicy queso dip! Their products are all vegan and gluten free so everyone at the table can enjoy.

Arrowhead Farm will have their first raspberries of the year. For folks looking for something to grill they will have pork loin chops, rib racks and sea salt & sage sausages. You should also try their special Heirloom Tomato Jam for basting meats or enjoying on hot dogs & burgers.

For the kid’s craft we’ll have pipe cleaners & beads so they can make their own rings.

Music will be by the Old Crow Band.

Our Civic Booth will be Northeast Arc.

This Weekend at the Market 6-26

Looks like we have another beautiful day in the works for this Sunday’s market! Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Safety Day last weekend.

This weekend Swampscott Pizza & Grill will be joining us serving up crepes, Moroccan pancakes, smoothies and other breakfast fare! Stop by to pick up a delicious breakfast along with some produce & fresh fish or meat for dinner!

Our crafters this week will be Salem Soap & Storyteller Jewelry. Our musician will be Jon Waterman.

We will have coloring available for the kids.

Touch-A-Truck Event, Sunday June 19th

This Sunday at the market we’ll be hosting a Public Safety Day featuring Swampscott Police, Fire, Ambulance and The Red Cross. They will be bringing their trucks and cruisers down and will be out there during the market for a meet & greet.

We would like to thank everyone for the great turnout for our Opening Day last week, it was a huge success! We hope that you’ll continue to come out every weekend to support our farmers and stock up on the great produce & other goodies our vendors have this year.

Also this Sunday at the market, our civic booth will be the Swampscott Yacht Club.

Our musician will be Aidan Bonner.

In addition to the touch-a-truck event, we will be having a flag making craft activity for the kids. They can have fun making their own flag for the 4th of July Parade.

The big day is almost here! Sunday June 12th will be the first market of the season. We can’t wait to see everyone out there, we have a wonderful list of vendors joining us this year.

We’ll have a pot-a-plant activity for the kids, our civic booth will be the Board of Health who will have reusable totes available.

For music we’ll have the wonderful Molly Pinto Madigan.

We will also be holding a perennial swap at the market. If you have any perennials in your garden that you are looking to part with, bring them to the market with you and you can swap with others. Maybe you have extra lilies and are looking to add some variety to your garden? See what others have an you can go home with a new plant for free!

Sign up for a CSA Share with Long Hill Orchard and you can pick up your share at the Farmer’s Market every Sunday this summer. The CSA includes fruits & vegetables and plenty of variety. Simply visit their website, download the membership form and mark it for Swampscott. They anticipate selling out so sign up now!

Looking for Volunteers!

The crocuses are starting to bloom and the smell of spring is in the air! The Farmer’s Market team is starting to gear up for the 2016 market season.  We’re looking to add more community volunteers to the committee this year if you’re interested in getting involved and helping us run and continue to grow this vibrant market. You can be involved as much or as little as you’d like, we are always happy to add new members to the planning committee but we’re also looking for volunteers to work a few markets throughout the summer. It’s a great way to get involved and give back to the community!

Our first meeting will be March 28th, please send us a quick note if you’re interested and we’ll send you more information on the time & location.

Indoor Thanksgiving Market!

We’ll be hosting our 3rd annual Indoor Thanksgiving Market on Sunday November 22nd, 10-1 in the Swampscott High School Atrium. If you haven’t joined us in the past, it isn’t one to miss! Stock up on fresh local vegetables and goodies to bring to the host or to serve up to your guests.

Long Hill Orchard will be bringing Turkeys for those who preorder with them. Please visit their website and contact them directly to place your order for pickup at the market.

Clark Farm with be bringing apples, winter squash, honey, cranberries, greenhouse tomatoes, kale, leeks and cauliflower. Beyond Seasons Farm, Grant Family Farm, Salem Spice, The Soup Guy & Alfalfa Farm will also be joining us. We are still waiting on final confirmation with our other vendors but we will update our event page as soon as we have them so be sure to join the event on Facebook.

Halloween Costume Parade & Our Last Outdoor Market of the Season!

This Sunday, October 25th, is our last outdoor market of the season. We will celebrate with a Halloween costume parade for the kids, bring them dressed up in their costumes and they will receive a goody bag for participation.

Although this is our last outdoor market this year, we will be hosting our 3rd annual Indoor Thanksgiving Market on Sunday November 22nd. Stay tuned for more information on pre-ordering turkeys. We’ll have a wide variety of craft and food vendors so you can stock up on local goods for the holiday.

Pumpkin Decorating this Weekend!

It looks like it’s going to be a cold one this weekend but that shouldn’t stop us New Englanders! Let’s get out there and take advantage of the fantastic items the farmers have this time of year. Warm up with some hot coffee & an apple cider donut and then pick up some squash to roast up for dinner and fresh fish or meat.

This weekend we’ll be doing pumpkin decorating with the kids as part of our October Halloweenfest celebration. We will be supplying all of the materials although you are welcome to bring your own pumpkin to decorate as well.
